Directions for use

1. Downloading and Installation:
(1) Please go to http://www.wstock.info/ to download wStockInfo software.
(2) Locate where you downloaded the setup file to your computer.
(3) Double-click on the setup program to start it.
(4) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

2. Run wStockInfo:
(1) Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
(2) Double-click on the wStockInfo icon to launch this software. Or right click on the wStockInfo icon on your desktop, select "Run as an administrator".
(3) Enter your  name and license code in License Code dialog of wStockInfo. The software displays 3 windows: Portfolio, Charts and Homepage.
(4) Set wStockInfo as trusted program in anti-virus software.

3. Displaying a Portfolio:
(1) Choose menu item "View->Refresh" to download the detailed prices from Internet and display them in the portfolio.
(2) Choose menu item "List->Portfolio" to display the portfolio.
(3) Choose menu item "List->Next" to display the next page of the portfolio, choose menu item "List->Previous" to display the previous page of the portfolio.
(4) Click on a column header (e.g. Price) and the stock symbols rank according to the values.
(5) Choose menu item "View->Auto Refresh" to refresh the portfolio every 2 mins automatically. Choose menu item "View->Stop" to stop refreshing the portfolio.
(6) Double-click on a portfolio name, for example, Portfolio1 or Portfolio2 in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree to download detailed prices from Internet and display them.
(7) Choose menu item "Tools->Portfolio Tree" to display/hide the Portfolio Tree. Click on a portfolio name in a GROUP to display stock symbols of the portfolio in the Symbol section.

4. Analyzing a Stock:
(1) Double-click on a stock symbol, for example, MSFT (or LLOY.L EURUSD=X) in the portfolio, the software downloads historical prices from Internet and displays TS1 charts of this stock. Or double-click on a stock symbol in the Symbol section to displays charts of this stock. TS1 includes charts of Heiken-Ashi, smart trading systems, MACD, KDJ and Bollinger Bands.
(2) Click on the PI1, PI2...,SI1,SI2... tab at the bottom of the window to see the 150 popular and special indicators in PI1, PI2...,SI1,SI2... Indicator Groups.
(3) Click on the TA1 tab to display charts of 16 popular indicators with buy/sell signals and back-testing results.
(4) The vertical scrollbar allows to scroll up and down to view more charts.
(5) Place your cursor on the time axis of the chart at the bottom of the window. When the cursor changes to a double-headed arrow, press and hold the left mouse button and drag the cursor to the left or right for the earlier charts.
(6) Place your cursor on the candle in the charts to view the data and date.
(7) Choose menu item "Chart->Crosshairs" to display crosshairs and data on the charts.
(8) Place your cursor on the first chart at the top of the window and right click on the chart to select Bar Chart or Line Chart.
(9) Zoom In and Zoom Out. Press the up arrow key of your keyboard to enlarge the charts and press the down arrow key to reduce the charts.
(10) Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Heiken-Ashi" to switch between Heiken-Ashi and candle chart.
(11) Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Point and Figure" to display the charts of Point and Figure.
(12) EquiVolume: Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->EquiVolume" to display the charts of EquiVolume.
(13) Choose menu item "Chart->View Hist. Prices" to display historical prices of the stock. Click on the Save button to save these data on your computer.
(14) Choose menu item "Chart->Multiple Time Intervals" to display the 1-min, 60-min, daily and weekly charts at the same time.
(15) Choose menu item "File->Save As Image" to save the charts as image.
(16) Click on the Co. News tab at the bottom of the window to display the data of this company.

5. Adding Last Price to Hist. Price:
Choose menu item "Chart->Add Last Price to Hist. Prices" to add the last price to the hist. prices of the stock if the hist. prices don't include the last price. The date of the last price is 0000/00/00 for the data source 2. Please carefully watch the last price in the chart. If you don't want to add the last price to the hist. prices of the stock, choose menu item "Chart->Add Last Price to Hist. Price" again to uncheck this function.

6. Stock Forecasting:
Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Forecasting" to display the forecasting results on the charts for the next candle. The forecasting results have the date 0000/00/01.

7. Displaying 1-min, 5-min, 10-min, 15-min, 30-min,  and 60-min Intraday Charts.
(1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Time Intervals -> 1 min, 5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins, 30 mins or 60 mins".
(2) Double-click on a symbol in a portfolio, the software downloads intraday historical prices and shows intraday charts.

8. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in PI1, PI2, ...
(1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Technical Analysis (TA)" or click on TA button on the Toolbar to display charts.
(2) Right-click on the chart with buy sell arrows, choose Parameter Optimization and then click Start. Optimal parameters of the indicator are shown in Parameter Optimization dialog.

9. TA1:
TA1 is an independent system and includes all functions of our another software Best-Charts.
(1) Click on TA button on the toolbar to display charts.
(2) Click on the TA1 tab at the bottom of the window to display charts of 16 popular indicators with buy/sell signals and back-testing results.
(3) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Back-Testing..." to test indicator performance and display the Back-Testing results.
(4) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Parameter Optimization..." to seek optimal parameters of 16 popular indicators in TA1. The optimal parameters of 16 indicators are saved in the file ...\ta1d.txt for daily charts.
(5) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Use Optimal Parameters" to use these optimal parameters to analyze this stock.
(6) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->View Optimal Parameters..." to display these optimal parameters.
(7) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Delete Optimal Parameters..." to delete these parameters and then use the parameters in "Change Parameters of Indicators" dialog.

10. Downloading the Historical Prices of All Stocks Listed in a Portfolio:
(1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree to download last prices from Internet and display the last prices.
(2) Choose menu item "Chart->Download Hist. Prices" to download the daily historical prices of all stocks listed in the portfolios. The historical prices are saved in the local disk.

11. Back-Testing for All Stocks:
(1) Double-click on the portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree.
(2) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Back-Testing for All Stocks". This software will download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the local disk, test the indicator performance and display the Back-Testing results.

12. Parameter Optimization for All Stocks:
(1) Double-click on the portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree.
(2) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Optimization for All Stocks". This software will download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the local disk, optimize the parameters of 16 popular indicators in TA1 and save the optimal parameters in the file ...\ta1d.txt.

13. Chart Comparison of 2 Stocks:
(1) Choose menu item "Chart->Chart Comparison" to display 2 windows for comparison of 2 stocks.
(2) Type a stock symbol, for example, AABA  (or LLOY.L) in text box on the toolbar and then press enter. The charts of this stock are displayed in the lower window.

14. Displaying Daily Charts of 9 Stocks in a Window:
(1) Choose menu item "Chart->Multiple Stocks" to display daily charts of 9 stocks in a window.
(2) Choose menu item "Chart->Next" to display charts of the next 9 stocks in the Portfolios. Choose menu item "Chart->Previous" to display charts of the Previous 9 stocks.

15. Stock Symbols:
The stock symbols used by wStockInfo software are as follows.

16. Creating a New Portfolio:
(1) Choose the menu "List -> Create Portfolio...", Create Portfolio dialog appears.
(2) Click on a Group name.
(3) Click on the Add Pf button, a dialog will appear.
(4) Type a portfolio name.

17. Adding Stock Symbols into a Portfolio:
(1) Click on a portfolio name in Create Portfolio dialog.
(2) Type a stock symbol,  for example, AABA  (or LLOY.L) in Symbol text box.
(3) Click on Add, the symbol is added into the portfolio.

18. Pasting Several Stock Symbols in a Portfolio:
(1) Creating a New Portfolio .
(2) Adding a stock symbols into the portfolio.
(3) Click OK button in Create Portfolio dialog and close wStockInfo software.
(4) Double-click on the portfolio name, for example, Portfolio2 with txt suffix in ...wStockInfo\block folder to open it.
(5) User may paste several stock symbols in the txt file. Two stock symbols are separated by a comma.
(6) User may also edit the file.
(7) Save the file.
(8) Relaunch wStockInfo software.

19. Deleting a Stock Symbols in a Portfolio:
(1) Click on a portfolio name in Create Portfolio dialog.
(2) Choose a stock symbol in Symbol text box.
(3) Click on the Del button to delete the symbol from the portfolio.

20. Changing Portfolio Form:
(1) Place your cursor between 2 column headers to change the column width.
(2) Choose the menu "List -> Column Order..." to change the order of the portfolio column.

21. Alternate Method for Performing Technical Analysis:
(1) Get historical prices of a stock (for example, MSFT) at https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MSFT/history?p=MSFT .
(2) Click on "Download Data" and save daily historical prices to "...\HDYdaily\MSFT.csv".
(3) Choose menu item "Chart->Folder on Hard Disk->HDYdaily".
(4) Choose menu item "Chart->Load Hist. Prices from Disk".
(5) Double-click on MSFT in the Portfolio to load the hist. prices from the hard disk and view the charts.
(6) Similarly save weekly historical prices to "...\HDYweekly\MSFT.csv" and analyze weekly historical prices.

22. Analyzing Historical Prices from ASCII File:
(1) Download daily historical quotes and save the txt file in the folder ...\HDdaily.
(2) Choose menu item "Chart->Folder on Hard Disk->HDdaily" and "Chart->Load Hist. Prices from Disk".
(3) Enter the file name in the input field on the toolbar or double-click on the symbol in the portfolio to load the hist. prices from disk and view the charts.

23. Intraday Charts Analysis:
(1) Download 1-min, 5-min, 10-min, 15-min, 30-min or 60-min historical prices and save the txt file in  the folder HD1min, HD5min,..., or HD60min.
(2) Choose the menu "Chart->Folder on Hard Disk->HD1min,..., or HD60min" and "Chart->Load Hist. Prices from Disk".
(3) Double-click on the symbol in the portfolio to load the hist. prices from disk and view the charts.

24. Data from stooq.com:
(1) Download 5-Minutes, Hourly or Daily ASCII file at https://stooq.com/db/h/, unzip and save the txt file in  the folder HD5min, HD60min, or  HDdaily respectively.
(2) Choose the menu "Chart->Folder on Hard Disk->HD5min, HD60min, or  HDdaily" respectively.
(3) Choose the menu "Chart->Load Hist. Prices from Disk".
(4) Double-click on the symbol in the portfolio to load the hist. prices from the above-mentioned folder and view the charts.

25. Options:
(1) Choose the menu "Tools -> Options..." and the Options dialog appears.
(2) Select a number in the combo box to change font size for portfolios.
(3) Enter the digitals between 0 and 255 for R, G and B to change the colors of the portfolio lines.
(4) Select "Up Red" or "Up Green" to determine the colors of candles. "Up Green" shows the green candle after the rise in stock prices.
(5) Enter Symbol 1 and Symbol 2 in Status Bar Info box. The last prices of 2 stocks will be displayed on the status bar.
(6) Select DS0, DS1, or DS2 in Data Source radio button to test the data sources.
(7) "Periods of Back-Testing" is the parameter for the back-testing. See "8. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in PI1, PI2, ...".
(8) "Number of Trades for Parameter Optimization" is used for the parameter optimization. See "8. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in PI1, PI2, ...".

26. Indicator Builder:
(1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Indicator Builder..." to open Indicator Builder dialog.
(2) Indicator Builder has 3 areas: indicator pool, indicator groups and selected indicators.
(3) Click on Popular tab and the 91 popular indicator names are shown in the indicator pool area. User can find the algorithms of the popular indicators on the Internet.
(4) Click on Special tab and the 54 special indicator names are shown in the indicator pool area. User can find the algorithms of the popular indicators.
(5) Click on User tab and the 3 indicator names are shown in the indicator pool area. Click on a indicator name and then click Edit button to see and edit the algorithm of the indicator.
(6) Click Function button to see 61 functions.

27. Adding a New Indicator Group.
(1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Indicator Builder..." to open Indicator Builder dialog.
(2) Click on the Add Group button to open Create Indicator Group dialog.
(3) Enter an indicator group name (e.g. Group1) and click Save.
(4) Click on an indicator group name (e.g. Group1) in indicator group area.
(5) Click on an indicator name in the indicator pool.
(6) Click Add button and the indicator name appears in selected indicator area. The indicator is added into the Group1 indicator group.
(7) The indicator group name is shown at the bottom of the chart window.

28. Functions used in the Indicators:
61 functions can be used in indicators. 61 function names are as follows.

29. Example of the Codes of MACD:
(1) The codes of MACD are as follows.

(2) Code Explanations:
SHORT, LONG and M in the codes are the parameters of the algorithm.
Add the prefix out_ to a variable name to show the curve of the variable.
The function DRAWINFO(out_MACD,LINESTICK,"0x237623") show the variable MACD with bar.
The function CROSS indicates that the two curves cut across each other.
The functions BUY and SELL add the buy or sell signal at the intersection point of the two curves on the chart.
If the codes include the functions BUY and SELL, the parameters in the algorithm can be optimized. See "8. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in PI1, PI2, ...".

30. Creating Your Own Indicators.
(1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Indicator Builder..." to open Indicator Builder dialog.
(2) Click on the New button to open the Create New Indicator dialog.
(3) Enter a name of a new indicator. The name must be different from the names of the indicators in popular indicator group and special indicator group.
(4) Describe the new indicator in the Description field.
(5) Type the codes in the code area.
(6) Enter the parameters in the parameter form. Enter the parameter names in Parameter column in the parameter form.
(7) Enter the digitals in the Default and Setting columns.
(8) The parameters max, min and step are used for parameter optimization. See "8. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in PI1, PI2, ...".
(9) Click Test Formula button to find the bug in the codes.
(10) Click Save.

31. Market News and Company News.
(1) Choose the menu "News ->Market News" to open Market News webpage.
(2) Choose the menu "News ->Company News" to open Company News webpage.
